Google Earth - The NERRS Google Earth Data express the Boundaries of the Reserves, the Watershed Boundaries and locations of the Research Monitoring Stations (and more) in the graphical environment of Google Earth. The NERRS Google Earth Files are in the standard KML Format. KML stands for "Keyhole Markup Language" and was developed for use with Google Earth.

You must have Google Earth or another compatible Graphical Information System (GIS) program loaded on your machine to use the files available in this section.

If you don't have Google Earth, it can be obtained for free at http://earth.google.com/download-earth.html

The Shapefile is a popular geospatial vector data format for Geographic Information Systems (GIS) that captures, stores, analyzes, manages and presents data that is linked to location. It is developed and regulated by ESRI as a (mostly) open specification for data interoperability among ESRI and other software products. After download and de-compression, all associated NERRS shapefiles should already be grouped in their associated folder or directory for easy interface with a multitude of GIS Systems.
